Shocking Revelation: School Shooters Linked Through Online Extremist Groups 🚨
In a chilling new report, it's been revealed that two teenagers who carried out deadly school shootings before taking their own lives had crossed paths in online extremist groups. This joint investigation by ProPublica and Wisconsin Watch uncovers the disturbing connections between these young perpetrators.
On December 16, at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow tragically killed a teacher and a 14-year-old student before ending her own life. Just a month later, on a Wednesday morning, 17-year-old Solomon Henderson opened fire in the cafeteria of Antioch High School in Nashville, killing a fellow student before dying by suicide.
Researchers have found that these two shooters interacted in online extremist circles, where violent attacks are glorified, and white supremacist, antisemitic beliefs are promoted. Although there is no evidence that Rupnow and Henderson planned their attacks together, their online interactions paint a haunting picture. Rupnow reshared a post from Henderson, who later became fixated on her, calling her a "saintress" and changing his profile picture to her image.
The Madison and Nashville police departments are still investigating the connections between these tragic events. The online activities of hate groups like the ones Rupnow and Henderson joined have led to numerous convictions for hate crimes and other violent acts. The US State Department recently designated the Terrorgram Collective, an online extremist group, as a terrorist organization.
This report serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in online extremist communities and the urgent need to address the radicalization of vulnerable youth.
