This funding, totaling over $130,000, underscores the importance of advancing research in these critical areas.
Marcella Alsan highlighted the inspirational and innovative scholarship of these Ph.D. students, emphasizing their role in teaching and pushing faculty to stay current.
This funding will support a diverse range of projects, from examining the economic and political consequences of water rights allocation in Chile to studying the multi-generational impact of foreclosure and housing displacement in the U.S.
One recipient, Taylor J. Robinson, a third-year Ph.D. student at the Chan School, shared how this funding will enable her to efficiently analyze large-scale sleep health data and present her findings at conferences. She expressed deep gratitude for the support, particularly as health equity research becomes increasingly vital.
The Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy aims to enhance social and economic wellbeing and advance social justice, while the Health Inequality Lab focuses on the causes and consequences of health inequality globally.
