Andrew Tate and Brother Land in Florida, DeSantis Says They're Not Welcome! π΄π« Controversial influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have landed in Florida after Romanian officials lifted court restrictions prohibiting them from leaving Romania while awaiting trial.
The brothers traveled aboard a private jet and arrived in Fort Lauderdale late Thursday morning. They are accused of human trafficking and forming an organized criminal group with the goal of sexually exploiting women in Romania.
Andrew Tate also faces charges of rape and separate allegations of money laundering. The Tates have denied all allegations.
Upon arrival, Andrew Tate stated that he and his brother are "largely misunderstood" and emphasized that they have never been convicted of any crime. He claimed their case in Romania was "dismissed" in December 2024, allowing them to return to the U.S.
However, the charges remain in force, and they are expected to return to Romania for court appearances. Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism warned that failure to observe judicial restrictions could result in harsher measures.
The brothers had been confined to Romania since late 2022 when they were arrested on allegations of human trafficking, sexual abuse, money laundering, and forming an organized criminal group. A second case began last year on similar charges involving more women.
In December 2024, a Bucharest court ruled that the first case against the Tates couldn't proceed to trial due to legal and procedural irregularities, but the charges were not dropped.
Reports suggest that Trump administration officials lobbied Romania to lift the travel ban on the Tates. President Donald Trump claimed he was unaware of their departure when asked by reporters.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated that Florida is not a place where the Tates are welcome, and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a preliminary inquiry into the brothers.
There is currently an arrest warrant against the Tates in the U.K. on allegations of sexual assault and human trafficking. A lawyer for four British women who accused Andrew Tate of rape urged the U.K. government to intervene and ensure he is prosecuted in Britain.
The women expressed disbelief and re-traumatization over the news that Romanian authorities allowed the Tates to travel.
