Carolina Forest Woman Arrested for Igniting 2K+ Acre Wildfire in Myrtle Beach Area! 🔥 In a shocking turn of events, Alexandra Anna Bialousow, a 40-year-old resident of Covington Drive in the Myrtle Beach area, has been arrested for causing the massive Covington Drive wildfire that has now spread over 2,000 acres.
Bialousow was charged by the South Carolina Forestry Commission with negligently allowing fire to spread to lands and violating fire regulations. She allegedly burned yard debris without taking necessary precautions, leading to the fire's rapid expansion.
Bialousow appeared in magistrate court on Friday, where her bond was set at $15,000—$7,500 for each charge. Despite having no criminal history, she faced serious accusations for not having an appropriate water source or garden tools to control the fire. Witnesses reported seeing her intentionally start the fire in a backyard fire pit near a tree line on March 1.
The wildfire began Saturday afternoon, quickly spreading close to homes and resulting in evacuations. Fortunately, no houses or structures were destroyed, and there have been no reported injuries. Horry County officials received the first report of the fire around 2:30 p.m. from a backyard. Despite a burn ban in place for over a week, the fire continued to spread.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission has managed to contain more than half of the 2,059-acre wildfire, but the impact on the community remains significant. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of following fire safety regulations and the potential consequences of negligence.
