Hong Kong’s Super March: Filipino Art Takes Center Stage in a Global Extravaganza! 🎨✨ This March, Hong Kong is transforming into a global hub of art, culture, and creativity with its “Super March” initiative, and Filipino artistry is stealing the spotlight! From world-class art fairs to street festivals, the city is buzzing with events that celebrate both local and international talent. Among the highlights is a special tribute to the late Filipino artist Pacita Abad, whose bold and thought-provoking works will be showcased at Art Basel Hong Kong and other prestigious venues.
Art Basel Hong Kong, running from March 28 to 30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, is one of the month’s biggest draws. With 240 galleries from 42 countries, it’s a must-see for art enthusiasts. Pacita Abad’s vibrant pieces, known for addressing socio-political themes, will be featured in the “Encounters” sector, alongside large-scale installations from artists worldwide. Her works will also be displayed at Silverlens and Tina Kim Gallery, ensuring her legacy shines brightly on the global stage.
But the Filipino presence doesn’t stop there. Artists Soler and Luis Antonio Santos will also showcase their talent at Art Basel through Manila’s The Drawing Room. Soler’s abstract art and Luis Antonio’s photorealistic works offer a stunning contrast, highlighting the diversity and depth of Filipino creativity.
March also marks the 10th anniversaries of Art Central and the HKwalls Street Art Festival. Art Central, running from March 26 to 30, is a platform for emerging artists, while HKwalls (March 22 to 30) will transform the city’s streets into an open-air gallery with murals, exhibitions, and community workshops. Pop culture fans, meanwhile, can look forward to ComplexCon (March 21 to 23), featuring performances by K-pop group NJZ and hip-hop producer Metro Boomin.
For museum lovers, Hong Kong’s world-class institutions are pulling out all the stops. M+ and the Hong Kong Palace Museum are hosting major exhibitions, including “Picasso for Asia—A Conversation” and “Guernica in Sand” by Lee Mingwei. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is also showcasing a first-of-its-kind exhibit dedicated to French Impressionists Cézanne and Renoir.
And let’s not forget the sports and entertainment side of Super March! The opening of Kai Tak Sports Park will host events like Coldplay’s concert in April and the Hong Kong Sevens, making this month a true celebration of art, culture, and community.
With so much to see and do, Hong Kong’s Super March is a testament to the power of art to unite and inspire. Don’t miss this chance to witness Filipino talent shine on the global stage!
