Shocking Discovery: Gabby Petito Case Unveils More Bodies! π¨π The renewed interest in Gabby Petito's murder case has led to some gruesome discoveries. The documentary "American Murder: Gabby Petito" sheds light on the last days before the influencer's tragic death and how the high-profile investigation helped find other missing persons' bodies.
Featuring real text messages, video footage, and personal journals from Petito, the documentary also includes never-before-seen interviews with her family members. It examines the role Brian Laundrie's parents played, especially after Laundrie returned home without Petito.
Gabby Petito was first reported missing on September 11, 2021, after failing to contact her parents for weeks. Nichole Schmidt and Joe Petito had tried to reach out to Brian Laundrie's parents, Roberta and Christopher, but their messages went unanswered.
Just eight days after being reported missing, and three weeks after the last confirmed sighting of Petito, her body was found at the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping area in Wyoming. Thousands of tips were received, one of which mentioned a Ford Transit Connect van like the one Petito and Laundrie were traveling in.
During the search for Gabby Petito, more than nine bodies were found. Most of these bodies were also missing persons and were discovered before Petito's body was identified. The search spread nationwide, leading to the discovery of more bodies than officials had expected.
Among the bodies found were those of 19-year-old college student Miya Marcano, Lauren Cho of Flemington, New Jersey, and Robert 'Bob' Lowery from Houston. The remains of 33-year-old Josue Calderon from Rhode Island were also discovered, along with the bodies of newlywed couple Kylen Schulte and Crystal Turner.
Miya Marcano's family attorney called out investigators for putting more effort into Petito's search because she was a white woman. Daryl Washington, the attorney for the Marcano family, told Insider that the differences in coverage between the cases highlight disparities in how missing persons cases are treated.
He emphasized that Gabby's family deserves the attention they're getting, but it's important to recognize the unequal treatment in similar cases.
